ATTICA, Ohio (Friday, May 12, 2006) – A constant rain through Thursday night and most of Friday has forced the cancellation of the World of Outlaws sprint car race at Attica Raceway Park for Friday, May 12.
“The rain is expected to continue throughout the day Friday and into Friday evening with temperatures reaching only 50 degrees. The decision was made to cancel races early enough to keep the race teams and fans from having to travel, with gas prices nearing $3 a gallon,” said Attica Operations Manager Rex LeJeune.
ARP and the World of Outlaws are working on a possible make-up date for the Kistler Engines sponsored event. LeJeune said an announcement will come in the near future.
Fans that purchased reserved seats are entitled to a full refund or a possible exchange for the two National Sprint Tour shows at ARP scheduled for May 26 and July 21. For more information call 419-680-5606 or log onto www.atticaracewaypark.com
“Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue will be back in action Friday, May 19, for Strawberry Hill Farm Market Night featuring the 410 winged sprints, 305 winged sprints, limited late models, and for the first of six times in 2006, the Coors Light Dirt Trucks.
“We will have a point fund for the dirt truck races at Attica this year,” said LeJeune.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing slated to start at 8 p.m.
