By Stephen J. Hartzell: (Tiffin, OH) The long off-season is nearly over, and there is no better way to ring in a new racing season than to come to the Tiffin Mall this weekend, March 23-25, for the annual Northern Ohio Sprint Car Show. The NOSCS is once again being made possible by the generous support of Fremont Speedway, Attica Raceway Park and Coors Light Beer. Local racing enthusiast Steve “Scoop” Hartzell is in his 5th year as NOSCS event promoter and organizer.

The 2007 NOSCS is already booked to capacity, featuring fire-breathing Sprint Cars as well as the ever-popular Dirt Trucks, Attica Late Models, Karts, vintage cars, vendors and events.

Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway will have displays at the show for the benefit of racers and fans throughout the weekend. The show begins to take shape on Thursday night at 7:00 as set-up day welcomes this year’s field of cars to the Tiffin Mall. The NOSCS then officially opens on Friday during normal mall hours.

ImageSaturday will be the big day of the weekend, as the Buckeye Speed Zone kicks off the list of events. A special live 2 hour broadcast will begin at 12:30 in the Hoserville Ohio room, which is adjacent to center court in the old Osterman store. At 3:00, at the same location, the annual Hoserville Ohio Benefit Auction begins in an effort to raise funds for the very worthwhile Hoserville Ohio Injured Driver’s Fund.

This event will feature the very popular local rock band, the Mongrels, playing from 7:00 until midnight. Admission is just $2 per person, with abundant food and drink available at reasonable prices. This event is a Runion Racing Team production.

The 2007 NOSCS will culminate with the annual awards ceremony in center court on Sunday at 4:30. Trophy awards will be given to the Merchant’s Choice, the People’s Choice, and the coveted Racer’s Choice Award which is chosen by the racers themselves. 2007 Special Forms For Attica Teams and Drivers

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) To help race teams save a little time, Attica Raceway Park has put important documents on the official website – www.atticaracewaypark.com – that drivers need to fill out for the 2007 racing season.

Drivers’ and race teams’ registration and tax forms are on atticaracewaypark.com (see left side of home page) under “Driver Forms.” You can print them off and fax (419-679-4242) them to the track office so you don’t have to do this on race day. Or you can bring them to any of the mall shows (Findlay Mall March 9-11; Bowling Green Mall March 16-19; and the Tiffin Mall, March 23-25) or to the race track on opening night.

“We know how busy teams are on opening night, so this is much easier to do now than on race day. Phone numbers and other information is for Attica Raceway Park only and will not be given out,” said Rex LeJeune, ARP Operations Manager.

Under “Driver Forms” on the left side of the home page, there are instructions along with a “driver registration” form and the “2007 Tax Form.” The driver registration form will help the track announcer keep the fans informed on the drivers’ backgrounds, sponsors, etc. The tax form is the 1099 tax record and must be filled out by each driver prior to payoff.

LeJeune said the forms will also be available at the upcoming mall shows.

Attica To Utilize Hoosier Spec Tire In 2007

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Attica Raceway Park has signed with Hoosier to utilize the National Tire Rule for all sprints during the 2007 season.

The right rear spec tire will be the Hoosier 105/18-15, compounds SC12, SC15, and SC25. The retail price is $183.65.

“Since the majority of the national touring winged 410 sprint organizations are utilizing thie new Hooser tire, it made sense for Attica to also incorporate the tire to help our weekly race teams save money and be competitive,” said ARP Operations Manager Rex LeJeune.

The new Hoosier right rear spec tire will be in effect for the 410 sprints and 305 sprints beginning Friday, April 27. All race nights prior to that date will be an open tire rule.
