Attica Raceway Park Unveils 2008 Pace Truck

Friday, 21 March 2008: (Attica, OH) During the 2008 Northen Ohio Sprint Car Show at the Tiffin Mall, John Bores and Rex LeJeune unvailed the paint scheme for the 2008 pace truck which is provided by the Baumann Auto Group. Come out to “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue on Friday, March 28th to the Baumann Auto Group pace truck just before the drop of the green flag on the 2008 racing season.

2008 Season Opener Postponed

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Attica Raceway Park has postponed its 2008 season opening race until Friday, March 28th.

“We received over 14 inches of snow last week and the ground is just saturated. They are calling for more rain and snow mix throughout the coming week and there just wouldn’t be any time to get the facilities ready,” said Rex LeJeune, Attica Operations Director.

HD Supply will sponsor the March 28 season opener (no rain date) which will feature the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and the UMP-sanctioned Service Drive Solutions Attica Late Models will compete for $1,000 to win!

Gates will open at 5 pm with racing action slated to begin at 8 pm.

6th Annual Northern Ohio Sprint Car Show Rolls Into Tiffin

By Steve Hartzell: (Tiffin, OH) For the sixth consecutive year, the Northern Ohio Sprint Car Show will roll into the Tiffin Mall, March 14-16, 2008. Directed by local racing enthusiast Steve “Scoop” Hartzell, the NOSCS has gained a reputation as one of the finest mall-based sprint car shows in the midwest. The show is sponsored by Budweiser, Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway.

The popular fire-breathing sprint cars will be in abundance throughout the mall, as well as Attica late models, dirt trucks, vintage racecars, karts and vendors. Fans will be able to test their skills with Tim Nickles’ nationally famous Sprint Car Simulators throughout the weekend.

Saturday will feature the Hoserville Ohio Benefit Auction, with a good stock of memorabilia up for bids. All proceeds will go into the special injured driver fund to be used to help injured drivers and their families.

Two popular area radio stations will do live broadcasts from the NOSCS on Saturday. In the morning WFIN, 1330 AM, Findlay will present a two-hour version of Dwight Allen’s Racing World, featuring Dwight Allen, Lisa Hammer and Andrew Barman. In the afternoon WFRO, Eagle 99.1 FM, Fremont will present a two-hour version of the Buckeye Speed Zone, featuring DC Bash and Brian Liskai.

A fine list of awards will be handed out at 4:30 on Sunday. Awards will go to the “People’s Choice”, the “Merchant’s Choice”, the coveted “Racer’s Choice” as well as “Truck of the Year”, “Attica Late Model of the Year” and “Kart of the Year. These awards have been generously paid for by Attica Raceway Park, Fremont Speedway and Scoop & Becky Hartzell. Additionally, Fremont Speedway will give each award winner a $25 gift certificate.

The Northern Ohio Sprint Car Show will run during normal mall hours March 14, 15 & 16. Fans of all ages are encouraged to come and help to celebrate the beginning another exciting racing season at nationally famous Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway.

Late Models To Be UMP Sanctioned in 2008

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Attica Raceway Park and Service Drive Solutions are teaming up to take the exciting, wheel-hiking dirt late model action to new heights in 2008.

The weekly late model division at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue will be sanctioned by UMP for the 2008 season. This will allow drivers competing at Attica Raceway Park that are UMP members the opportunity to gain state, regional and national points. UMP paid out over $450,000 in point fund money for the 2007 racing season.

The 2007 weekly Attica Late Model rules will remain in effect for 2008 with the exception of a Hoosier only tire rule. The Hoosier tire rule will be effective beginning Friday, April 18, 2008. The weekly Attica Late Models will be dubbed the “Service Drive Solutions Attica Late Models.”

Racing at Attica Raceway Park Will Melt The Winter Blues Soon

The drivers, teams and staff at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue are ready to “kick the tires and light the fires” on Attica’s 20th anniversary season that opens Friday, March 21, as HD Supply Night features 410 sprints, 305 sprints and Attica Late Models. And if Mother Nature won’t cooperate, there is a rain date of Saturday, March 22.

“We’re excited about our 20th anniversary season. I want to thank the fans and race teams for all of their support the first two years I’ve had the privilege of promoting this race track,” said John Bores, Attica Raceway Park promoter.

“The 2008 schedule looks to be one of the most exciting and well-rounded in the track’s prestigious history,” added Rex LeJeune, ARP Director of Operations.
The great weekly racing featuring the 410 sprints paying $2,500 to win, along with the 305 sprints, Attica Late Models and dirt trucks makes Attica’s purse of over $23,000 one of the best in the United States.

“Then add in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprints, the World of nOutlaws Late Models, plus three appearances of the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion sprints and two events with the Sunoco American Late Models…we’re paying out over $500,000 A-main prize money in 2008. Attica is the place to be on Friday nights!” added LeJeune.

“The weekly general admission and pit pass prices will remain the same as 2007. This will allow our fans and race teams the opportunity to see and participate in some of the best, exciting entertainment in the area at a reasonable price,” said Bores.

Several improvements have been made at ARP since the checkered flag flew on the last event in September. Restrooms and other buildings have been spruced up, stone has been put down to make the pit area more comfortable, and wind-breakers have been installed on the back of the skyboxes.

“We graded the track and added over 100 loads of dirt. The track is wider which should allow for more side-by-side racing,” added Bores.
