Attica Raceway Park Adjusts Purse In 2009

By Brian Liskai:(Attica, OH) Attica Raceway Park has announced adjustments to the 2009 purse structure for the weekly divisions.

The 410 sprint A-main purse will be $10,930 for the 20-car field with $2,200 to win and $225 to start. The Fultz Fabrications & Speedshop UMP Late Models will vie for $1,000 to win the A-main and $160 to start the 20-car A-main. The A-main purses for the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints and dirt trucks will not change from 2008 levels.

“Entering our fourth season at Attica Raceway Park we felt the adjustments are necessary to continue to build our strong weekly program,” said John Bores, ARP Promoter, and Rex LeJeune, ARP Operations Manager.

“We know things are tough for everyone, but this will enable Attica to provide the fans with great racing in all four divisions in 2009,” added Bores.

The biggest adjustment in purse structure came in the 14 weekly feature events for the 410 winged sprints. LeJeune said the good news is the 410 sprints will compete in five big shows in 2009, including the World of Outlaws and four O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion events for a total A-main purses of over $300,000 for the season.

“Add in the 11 races toward the Kistler Race Products FAST (Fremont/Attica Sprint Title) Cup and the 410 sprint racing remains very strong in 2009,” said LeJeune.

The complete purse structures can be found at www.atticaracewaypark.com

Attica Has Excitement For Everyone in 2009

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) While some race tracks boast of one or two “special events” on their schedule, Attica Raceway Park’s 2009 schedule has “special events” every week!

“Attica is one of the few tracks across the country that features 410 sprint cars and late models every week. Along with the Fremont Fence 305 sprints and dirt trucks on special nights, our great fans are in for a treat every Friday,” said Attica Operations Director Rex LeJeune.

The return of the World Of Outlaw Sprints and World of Outlaw Late Models highlights the 2009 season at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speedplant – the sprints on Friday, May 29 on Kistler Engines Classic Night and the late models on Friday, July 24. It’s a classic double-header for each WoO visit as the Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models are on the card with the sprints and the 410 sprints will run for $3,000 to win along side the WoO Late Models.

The return of the two-day HD Supply Spring Nationals featuring the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars will take place Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11. The late models join the card on Friday while the 305 sprints make it an open-wheel affair on Saturday. Also on April 11, the pit area will be opened up for fans to meet the drivers.
For the first time ever, the traditional Ohio Sprint Speedweek will kick off at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 19 as Aaron’s Sales and Lease Night brings the return of the All Stars.

The All Stars make their final appearance to wrap up ARP’s season for the traditional Attica Ambush on Baumann Auto Group Night, Saturday, Sept. 5.

One of the greatest races in Ohio took place at Attica Raceway Park several years ago when Mark Keegan hunted down and passed “The King of the Outlaws” Steve Kinser late in the race in front of a standing room only crowd. However, Keegan’s importance to Attica Raceway Park goes beyond his 12 track championships in 21 years and 55 career feature wins – he was one of the partners who helped build and promote the race track when it reopened in 1988.

To honor his role in racing at Attica, Custom Chrome Plating will sponsor Mark Keegan Night on Friday, May 15.

Attica Raceway Park recognizes many of the great race fans are struggling through the tough economy. In response, there are several “fan appreciation nights” planned in 2009 with $10 general admission prices.

“Dirt track racing in Northwest Ohio is one of the most affordable family entertainment values in the country. Thanks to our great sponsors and the support of the racers and the hard work of our staff we will continue to provide our fans with the most bang for their buck,” said ARP Promoter John Bores.

Besides the addition of super late models every week at ARP, another exciting new event in 2009 is the Kistler Racing Products FAST (Fremont/ Attica Sprint Title) Cup. The fan-driven concept establishes a separate point fund and system for 410 drivers that support Attica and Fremont. There are 11 FAST nights on Attica’s 2009 season and 11 at Fremont.

Attica Raceway Park’s 2009 season kicks off Friday, March 27 (rain date of Saturday, March 28) with the 410 sprints, the Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models and Fremont Fence 305 Sprints.

Gates open every Friday a 5 p.m. with racing underway at 7:30 p.m. (Saturday races gates open at 4:30 p.m.).
