(Attica, OH) The fans of Attica Raceway Park have voted Josh Muntz’s first career feature win on August 28th as their favorite 305 sprint car moment of the 2010 race season. Muntz’s victory won the poll with well over 100 votes from the fans on atticaracewaypark.com and collectied nearly 50% of the total votes.

Back on Attica Raceway Park’s Season Championship Night, Muntz would drive to the top of the track to take the lead with Jake Trevino, Bobby Clark, Dan Hammond and Nate Dussel in tow. Clark would quickly grab second place and race right onto Muntz’ rear bumper. Muntz had to hit his marks perfectly over the course of the 25-lap event with Clark right on his tail. In the end, Fremont, Ohio’s Josh Muntz would lead every lap and earn his first career Attica victory in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints.

Over the off-season atticaracewaypark.com will be conducting several polls to help determine what was the greatest moment of the 2010 season at Attica Raceway Park.

Each poll will feature five events that stuck out in the minds of the Attica Raceway Park staff from the past season for one particular division. The fine fans of “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant will then have a month to vote (you can only vote once per day) and help determine what was the most exciting event for that division. Once each division has a winner we will post them all together and let the fans ultimately decide what was the greatest moment of 2010 at Attica Raceway Park.

(Attica, OH) The fans of Attica Raceway Park have spoken and voted Rick Eckert’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series feature win on July 30th as their favorite DIRTcar Late Model moment of the 2010 race season. Eckert’s victory won the poll, voted on by the fans on atticaracewaypark.com, by collecting nearly 50% of the total votes.

Rick Eckert displayed his cool even when nothing was going right for the York, Pennsylvania driver during the World of Outlaws visit to “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant. After turning fourth quick time, his car blew up, forcing him to the tail of his heat in a back-up car. He then had to race through the B-main to gain an 18th starting spot in the feature. Then, a hole in his radiator caused his crew to quickly change the water cooling device during a red flag, sending him to the tail. He then steadily worked his way to the front using the extreme bottom groove, passing Josh Richards with just three laps remaining to earn his second World of Outlaws Late Model victory of the season.

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Byron Reed, (410 Sprint Cars), Ryan Missler (DIRTcar Late Models), D.J. Foos (305 Sprint Cars) and Brian Arnold (Dirt Trucks) were honored as Attica Raceway Park 2010 champions during a gala banquet Friday at the Attica Fairgrounds Banquet Hall.

For Reed, who also took the 2010 Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title Championship, it was his sixth track title in the last eight years. After finishing second in the points in 2009, Reed’s team came out strong in 2010. He scored five feature wins at Attica in 2010, including two victories over the All Stars. In the 14 A-mains he competed in during the season, Byron never finished out of the top 10! In fact, his worse finish was an 8th on July 30. He scored 12 top five finishes. Besides his five wins, he recorded four runner-up finishes. Reed now has 27 career feature wins to sit second in the division’s all-time win list. Byron’s average A-main finish was 3rd.

Missler, from Bellevue , claimed his second straight championship in the Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models. Missler competed in 14 of the 15 A-mains, missing only the World of Outlaws feature. He scored an incredible 11 top 10 finishes including an outstanding 10 top five finishes. Missler posted four wins along the way on April 23, Aug. 6, Aug. 28 and Sept. 4 and now has 7 career super late model victories at Attica, moving him to second on the track’s all-time win list. His average A-main finishing position was a remarkable sixth.

Foos, in only his third year of sprint car racing, claimed his first track title in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints. The championship literally came down to the last lap on the last night. In competing in all 13 A-mains in 2010, Foos, a Fremont, Ohio native, finished out of the top 10 in only one feature, that a 15th place run on April 23. He scored 7 top five finishes. In fact, from April 30 through July 16, Foos’ worse finish was fifth. He scored five wins in 2010, including a stretch that saw him take the checkered four times in a row from June 4 through July 16. Foos now has eight career Attica wins to sit tied for 14th on the track’s all-time win list. Foos’ average A-main finishing position was an outstanding fifth.

Arnold, from Tiffin , Ohio , had an incredible year that saw him post five top five finishes of the 7 A-mains run in the Computer Man Dirt Truck Division. In fact, from April 16 through Aug. 28, his worse finish was an eighth. Arnold scored a win on June 11, his eighth career Attica victory. He also posted three runner-up finishes. Arnold ’s average A-main finishing position was an incredible fourth. For point races only, his average A-main finishing position was third.

The top-10 in points in all four divisions shared in the track’s point fund money. Also, Ultra Shield and Bell Race Products gave them gift certificates and Missler earned a $1,000 gift toward the purchase of a new Rocket Chassis thanks to Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop.

Attica Promoter John Bores thanked all of the staff at ARP for their professionalism and hard work. He also thanked all of the teams and fans who made 2010 a success, along with all of the businesses who are marketing partners with “ Ohio ’s Finest Racing” speedplant.

Followings is a look at the drivers in the top 10 in each division.

410 SPRINT CARS

10. Todd Heller, Whitehouse, Ohio. The 41-year-old driver competed in 8 of the 14 A-mains in 2010 with a season-high 8th place run on July 23. He recorded three top 10 finishes and had an average A-main finishing position of 12th.

9. Brandon Martin, Attica, Ohio. The recent new dad of a beautiful baby girl competed in 10 of the 14 A-mains in 2010, recording 5 top 10 finishes and four top five runs. He had a season-best runner-up finish on June 4 and a third place run on July 2. His average A-main finishing position was 9th.

7. TIE – Shawn Valenti, Risingsun, Ohio. The 2010 Attica rookie of the year competed in 9 of the 14 A-mains in 2010, recording three top 10 finishes including a season-best 7th on Aug. 6. His average A-main finishing position was 13th.

7. TIE – Kevin Lee, Green Springs, Ohio. In his second year of 410 sprint racing, Kevin competed in 10 of the 14 A-mains in 2010, recording3 top 10 finishes including a season best pair of sixth place runs on June 11 and July 2. Kevin’s average A-main finishing position was 12th.

6. Bryan Sebetto, Fremont, Ohio. The 27-year-old driver competed in all 14 A-mains in 2010. Flipper earned six top 10 finishes, including a season-best fifth on April 30. Who could forget Bryan jumping in the Robenalt #98 on June 11 and charging from rear of B to gain a transfer spot and then blasting his way from 19th to a 7th place finish. Bryan ’s average A-main finishing position was 12th

5. Dean Jacobs, Wooster, Ohio. The 46-year-old veteran competed in 13 of the 14 A-mains, missing only the opening night feature. He recorded an incredible 11 top 10 finishes and seven top five runs. Dean scored his 9th career Attica victory on Aug. 6, moving him into a tie with Mike Linder and Danny Smith for 10th on the track’s all-time sprint win list. Dean also had a runner-up finish and three third place runs, many of those coming from back-of-the pack starting spots. His average A-main finishing position was 6th.

4. Craig Mintz, Gibsonburg, Ohio. The 2009 Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title champion competed in 13 of the 14 A-mains in 2010, missing only the June 11 show. Craig scored 10 top 10 finishes including three top five showings. He recorded a pair of season-best third place finishes on April 23 and July 30. Craig’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

3. Phil Gressman, Fremont, Ohio. The 42-year-old driver made all 14 A-mains in 2010, recording 9 top 10 runs. Phil posted six top five finishes, including his 5th career Attica win on April 30. He also had a runner-up finish on June 11 and a pair of third place runs. Who could forget that feature win when he and Brock Mayes put on a slide-job clinic throughout the 30-lap feature. Phil’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

2. Mark Keegan, Fremont, Ohio. The 52-year-old driver had a huge resurgence in 2010. The 12-time Attica track champion competed in all 14 A-mains in 2010, recording 9 top 10 finishes, including eight top five runs. In fact, from June 11 until Aug. 28, Mark never finished out of the top five. Mark picked up career win #56 on June 11 and followed that up with three straight second place finishes. Besides the victory, Mark posted four runner-up finishes. Mark’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

FULTZ FABRICATIONS & SPEEDSHOP UMP DIRTcar LATE MODELS

10. Wayne Maffett Jr., Mansfield, Ohio. Maffett, a two time streetstock/limited late model champion who holds the most career wins in that division in Attica’s history, competed in 9 of the 15 A-Mains in 2010. He posted three top 10 finishes including a season-best second on June 18. His average feature finishing position was 12th.

9. John Bores, Bellevue, Ohio. John competed in 7 of the 15 A-mains in 2010. He finished 9th in each of the last two events of 2010 for his season-best finishes. His average A-main feature finishing position was 16th.

8. Ernie Haynes, Risingsun, Ohio. Ernie competed in 9 of the 15 A-mains in 2010, recording 5 top 10 finishes including a season best 4th on April 10. His average A-main finishing position was 10th.

7. Michael Stiltner II, Green Springs, Ohio. Michael competed in 9 of the 15 A-mains in 2010, recording 3 top 10 finishes including a season-best pair of 7th place runs. His average A-main finishing position was 12th.

6. Ken Hahn, Gibsonburg, Ohio. The 2007 limited late model champion competed in 11 of the 15 A-mains in 2010. Ken recorded 8 top 10 finishes and 4 top five finishes. He scored a season-best third on June 18. Ken’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

5. Mike Bores, Bellevue, Ohio. Mike competed in 12 of the 15 A-mains in 2010, missing only the UMP Summer Nationals event, the World of Outlaws main and the April 30 feature. He recorded 5 top 10 runs and scored a season best pair of third place finishes the last two events of the year. Mike’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

4. Jeremy Canada, Barberton, Ohio. Jeremy competed in 13 of the 15 A-mains, missing only the UMP Summer Nationals and World of Outlaw features. He scored 5 top 10 runs, including a season-best 4th on April 23. Jeremy’s average A-main finishing position was 12th.

3. Dan Wallace, Toledo, Ohio. Dan competed in 12 of the 15 A-mains in 2010, missing only the April 16 feature and the UMP Summer Nationals and World of Outlaws mains. He scored 8 top 10 finishes including 3 top five finishes. He scored a season best runner-up finish on the last show. Dan’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

2. Larry Kingseed, Castalia, Ohio. Larry, a five-time limited late model track champion, came back strong in 2010. He competed in 14 of the 15 A-mains, missing only the World of Outlaw feature. Larry racked up 8 top 10 runs, including 4 top five finishes. Larry scored his first career super late model win on May 14 to go with his 23 career wins in the limited late model division. Larry’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

FREMONT FENCE CO. 305 SPRINT CARS

Rookie of the Year – Jason Keckler, Fremont , Ohio . Jason, who came back after fracturing his neck in his initial attempt at racing in 2009, really came into his own the last half of the season, making five of the six final feature events. Overall he competed in 6 of the 13 A-mains, finishing 14th in points. He posted a pair of ninth place finishes as his season’s best runs.

10. Steve Rando, Lindsey, Ohio. Steve competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the June 11 show. He scored 8 top 10 finishes, including 3 top five’s. Steve picked up his first career Attica win on April 23. His average A-main finishing position was 9th.

9. Josh Muntz, Fremont, Ohio. Josh competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the July 2 show. He posted 5 top 10 finishes, including his first career feature win on the last night of racing, Aug. 28. Josh’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

8. Paige Polyak, Tiffin, Ohio. Paige competed in all 13 of the A-mains in 2010, recording 8 top 10 finishes, including 5 top five’s. In fact, she did not finish out of the 9 the last six feature events of the year. The 16-year-old’s best finish was a runner-up on June 11 and she also recorded a pair of third place runs during the make-up and regular feature events on Aug. 6. Paige’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

6. TIE – John Ivy, Fremont, Ohio. John, the 2000 410 track champion and 1993 305 track titlist, competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. He racked up an incredible 10 top 10 finishes – in fact, from April 10 through June 11, his worst finish was 8th. John also posted 3 top five runs, including a season best runner-up on June 4 and a third on April 16. John’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

6. TIE – Stuart Brubaker, Fremont, Ohio. The 2008 305 track champion competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. Stuart posted 7 top 10 finishes, including 6 top five runs. Stuart, the 2010 Kear’s Speed Shop/Cleveland Golf Fremont Attica Sprint Title Champion posted a season-best pair of third place runs. His average A-main finishing position was 7th.

5. Zack Kramer, Fremont, Ohio. Zack, in his third year in sprint racing, competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. He scored an incredible 10 top 10 finishes and 5 top five finishes. Zack picked up his first career win on Aug. 6 and also scored a runner-up finish on April 23. Zack’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

4. Bobby Clark, Fremont, Ohio. The 46-year-old competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. He recorded 9 top 10 runs, including 7 top five runs. Bobby started the year strong, finishing no worse than fifth through May 14. However, he probably hated to see the months of June and July, where he finished no better than 13th. Bobby opened with a win on April 2 and followed with a win on April 30 for 13 career wins at Attica in the 305 sprints to move him into a tie for 6th on the division’s all-time win list. Bobby’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

3. Nate Dussel, Bradner, Ohio. Nate also competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. He posted a remarkable 11 top 10 finishes, including 6 top five runs. Nate was another driver to start the season strong. In fact, his worse finish was an 8th through July 16. A bad night on the Aug. 6 double features where he posted finishes of 17th and 20th probably cost him a shot at the championship, as that night was the only of the season where he finished out of the top eight. Nate’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

2. Paul Weaver, Fremont, Ohio. Weaver, the 2009 track champion, finished just 6 points out of a second straight title. Weaver, who competed in all 13 of the A-mains, posted an incredible 11 top 10 finishes, including 10 top five runs. From opening night through May 14, he finished no worse than fourth. A bad June – where he posted an 11th place and 13th place finishes – probably cost him the track title. Paul claimed two feature wins during the season – on April 16 and May 14, to take his career total to 24 in the division, just one away from the division’s all-time winner Mike Linder. Paul also scored five runner-up finishes. His average A-main finishing position was a remarkable 4th.

COMPUTER MAN INC. DIRT TRUCKS

Rookie of the Year – Jeff Wank, New Reigel , Ohio . Jeff competed in 6 of the 7 A-mains, missing only opening night for the trucks. He scored three top 10 finishes, including a pair of season-best sixth place runs.
His average A-main finishing position was 11th. He finished 13th in the point standings.

10. Cory Ward, Sandusky , Ohio . The 2008 Attica champion competed in 5 of the 7 A-mains in 2010, posting four top five finishes, including a season-best runner-up on June 11. His average A-main finishing position was 6th.

9. Craig Holland, Fremont, Ohio. Craig competed in all 7 A-mains in 2010, posting a season best 8th place run on July 16. His average A-main finishing position was 14th.

7. TIE – Brian Sorg, Fremont, Ohio. Brian competed in all 7 A-mains in 2010, posting three top 10 finishes, including a season-best pair of fifth place runs. His average A-main finishing position was 10th.

7. TIE – Paul Brown Jr., Clyde, Ohio. Paul competed in all 7 A-mains in 2010, scoring 3 top 10 finishes, including a season best runner-up on Sept. 4. His average A-main finishing position was 10th.

6. Dan Hennig, Castali, Ohio. In the 7 A-mains Dan competed in during the year, he posted five top 10 runs. He scored a season best third place finish on June 11. His average A-main finishing position was 8th.

5. Alex Weichman, Oak Harbor, Ohio. In the 7 A-mains he competed in during 2010, Alex recorded 4 top 10 finishes including a season-best pair of third place runs. His average A-main finishing position was 8th.

4. Steve Endicott, Risingsun, Ohio. The 2009 Fremont Speedway track champion competed in all but the last feature event in 2010. Steve never finished out of the top 10. He posted his second career Attica victory on opening night. His average A-main finishing position was 5th.

3. Bob Dible, Fostoria, Ohio. Other than a pair of 11th place runs, Bob never finished worse than 5th in the other five feature events in 2010. He scored three wins in 2010 – June 4, July 15 and Sept. 4 to take his career total to 7. Bob’s average A-main finishing position was an outstanding 4th.

2. Dwight Waltermeier, Wayne, Ohio. Dwight finished out of the top 10 only once in the 7 A-mains in 2010 – that a 14th place finish on July 16 which probably cost him a shot at the championship. Dwight posted two wins – July 1 and Aug. 28 – taking his career total to 4. Dwight’s average A-main finishing position was 5th.
