2011 World of Outlaws Sprints Race Preview

By Kyle Luetters – World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series PR

WHAT
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series invades Ohio and Michigan this weekend for events on Friday, May 20, at Attica Raceway Park and Saturday, May 21, at I-96 Speedway.

Weather got the best of the Outlaws last year at Attica, but Jason Meyers captured the Rumble in Michigan for the second year in a row at I-96 Speedway. Meyers, the defending series champion who is still looking for his first victory of 2011, should be a contender this weekend as he competed at Attica once this season on a non-race weekend for the Outlaws, and his record at I-96 is impressive, finishing no worse than seventh in seven starts at the half-mile oval.

That leads to several questions to be answered this weekend: Will Meyers make it three in a row at I-96 Speedway? Can four-time champion Donny Schatz find Victory lane for the first time in 2011? Will hometown hero Chad Kemenah of Findlay, Ohio, use recent strong runs to propel himself into the winner’s circle? Can World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series points leader Joey Saldana rebuild his lead after Steve Kinser closed the gap at Williams Grove Speedway this past weekend?

WHEN
On Friday, May 20 at Attica Raceway Park, the pit gates will open at 3:30 pm, with the grandstand gates opening at 4:00 pm, with racing set for 7:45 pm.

5.13.11 Races Rained Out

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Just as hot laps were ready to hit the track Friday at Attica Raceway Park , the skies opened up. Track crews began working on the surface to try and get the night’s racing in on All Pro Cylinder Heads/ Aaron’s Sales and Lease Night, but another band of showers forced the cancellation of the event.

There were 33 of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints, 32 of the Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models and 28 of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints signed into the pits.

Fans can redeem their ticket stubs from tonight for face value at any of the remaining events in 2011 at Attica Raceway Park.

Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Friday, May 20th as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series take on the tough local competitors in the Kistler Engines Classic paying $10,000 to win. The Fultz Fabrications & Speed Shop UMP Late Models will also be in action. Reserve seats are still available by calling 419-680-5606 or go to www.atticaracewaypark.com.

Attica To Cover 2011 World of Outlaws Membership Fees

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) It’s time for the talented sprint car teams of Attica Raceway Park to step up and defend their turf…and it could mean a lot of cash.

When the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series invades “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant on Friday, May 20, not only will the Attica stars be gunning for the $10,000 top prize in the Kistler Engines Classic, but for some big bonus money too.

Any driver in the top 25 in the weekly Attica point standings after May 13 will be eligible for several cash and contingency bonuses of over $10,000.

If one of the top 25 in Attica points can defeat the World of Outlaw regulars and win the feature he/she will receive a $2,500 bonus from Attica Raceway Park and a $1,000 bonus from the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions if the winner of the race is in the All Star’s national Top-10 in points through May 14.

Additional bonus contingency’s are from Kistler Engines, Gressman Powersports and Level Performance. If the feature winning driver – who is in Attica ’s top 25 in points – is running one of their engines, he/she will receive a $2,000 gift certificate from that winning engine company. Also, All Pro Aluminum Heads is giving a $250 gift certificate if the winner is using All Pro Heads.

Attica Raceway Park will also give the highest finisher in the A-Main who is in the track’s top 25 in points a $500 bonus. If a driver in the top 25 in points wins the race then the second highest finisher in the top 25 in points will get the $500 bonus.

And if all of those bonuses aren’t enough, as an extra incentive for the Attica regulars, track promoter John Bores will pay the World of Outlaws membership fee for any team in the top 25 in the track’s points after May 13 (if that team does not already have a membership).

Free Flat Screen TV To Be Handed Out 5.13.11

Aaron’s Sales & Lease will be giving away a FREE 32-inch flat screen TV on Friday, May 13th to one lucky race fan on All Pro Alumunim Heads/ Aaron’s Sales & Lease Night!

In order to be eligible for the drawing, fans must sign-up at the Aaron’s Sales & Lease display near the main entrance once they enter. The drawing will be held later in the evening.

This Friday night features the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprint Cars who will tear up the 1/3-mile clay oval on Night #5 of the Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Championship Series. Also in action are Fultz Fabrications & Speed Shop UMP DIRTcar Late Models and the Fremont Fence Company 305 Sprint Cars.
