Babb Makes It Five Summer Nationals Victories In A Row With Attica Win; Foos Gets Second 305 Sprint Win, Ruhlman Scores UMP Modified Victory

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Shannon Babb and Jeep Van Wormer traded the lead several times over the middle portion of the 40-lap UMP Summer Nationals Lade Model feature Friday at Attica Raceway Park . The two battled each other and lapped traffic in a classic shoot-out, but when the checkered fell, Babb had won his fifth straight “Hell Tour” event. It was the Moweaqua, Illinois driver’s eighth victory during the 22 races that have been run since over the last 29 days.

“That was a hell of a race. I knew Jeep could do it…we raced awesome right there. He was probably a little better than I was…I just got by him early when my tires had good edges on them. I think I was harder on tires and as the track started to get a little crumbs up there I actually started to go away where I couldn’t run the middle. I just kept it on the outside. It’s a pleasure to drive this Victory Circle , Petroff Towing, Donley Trucking car…it was a lot of fun,” said Babb in the Engine Pro Victory Lane .

Babb credited the hard work he and his crew put in over the winter as he races to the $25,000 Hell Tour championship.

“We stayed home this winter and we had to do something. We had to study and learn everything about our car and try to do something to get an edge. Otherwise I was going to have to give it up…my checkbook was running low,” said the “Moweaqua Missile”.

In the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Summer Nationals event for the UMP Modifieds, Clarklake , Michigan ’s Brian Ruhlman battled hard with Zach Schroeder and Jerry Berwanger before securing the win on Central Ohio Farmers/True Value of Woodville Night at “ Ohio ’s Finest Racing” speedplant.

It wasn’t easy for Ruhlman, as his car lost a brake line early on and he had to continuously pump the brake peddle down the straights in order to have enough to set his car in the corners.

“Once we got the top cleaned off where I could rotate the middle we were pretty good. The 55 car (Schroeder) is one of my customer cars so he ran pretty good. We don’t build very many of these but everyone we have is very dominant. We have a lot of good customers out there,” said Ruhlman beside his Ruhlman Race Cars backed #49. “We actually had a brake line come loose in the staging lane. I had to pump the brakes all the way down the straight away in order to have any brakes to get in the corner so it was kind of a struggle inside the car.”

“I want to thank my crew guy Mark Schneider…he busts his butts. It’s just him and I running two cars (late model and modified)…he makes it possible,” added Ruhlman.

In the Fremont Fence 305 Sprint feature, defending track champion D.J. Foos blasted around early leader Junior Felver on lap four and never looked back as he went on to claim his second win of the season and 10th career victory at Attica.

“I tried to give that away a couple times…I didn’t know how close anyone was and I wanted this one more than anyone else here. I figured I’d just drive the wheels off it until I won or crashed,” said Foos, who, on several occasions jumped the slim top side cushion.

“We’ve been in a dry spell…we haven’t even been running decent here so this is awesome,” added Foos, who won on opening night in his Burger King, Buckshot Farms, Pit Stop Carryout, Level Performance backed #11F.

UMP DIRTcar Late Models – Shannon Babb #18
In the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win late model feature, Ryan Unzicker and Van Wormer would lead the field to the green with Van Wormer taking the lead while fourth-place starter Babb would slip into second. Babb would drive around Van Wormer on the second circuit to steal the lead with Unzicker right on their rear bumper. Babb and Van Wormer ran side-by-side with Unzicker glued to their rear bumpers until the race’s only caution flew on lap four for a stalled Matt Furman.

The battle for the lead heated right back up when the green came back out with Jack Sullivan and Scott James joining Unzicker in applying pressure to Babb and Van Wormer.

By lap 10, Babb had pulled away slightly while Van Wormer had his hands full with Unzicker, Sullivan and James. Babb would encounter lapped traffic by the 16th circuit and this allowed Van Wormer, Unzicker and Scott to close quickly. By the half-way point, Van Wormer was once again racing side-by-side with Babb with Unzicker, Scott and Sullivan right there. With lapped machines racing side-by-side in front of them, Babb, Van Wormer and Unzicker put on a driving clinic, slicing and dicing their way through as they also battled each other.

Van Wormer would use the lapped cars to steal the lead on lap 25 as Babb continued to race to his outside with Unzicker right on the back fender of Van Wormer. Babb would use the cushion to drive back into the lead on lap 29, but Van Wormer and Unzicker didn’t give up, running right inside of the leader. Meanwhile six-time Attica winner Jon Henry was on the move from eighth starting spot, moving into the top five with Dennis Erb Jr following.

With five laps to go Babb, Van Wormer and Unzicker had cleared traffic and Babb pulled away slightly with Sullivan, Henry and Erb in tow. Babb would go on to record his first ever Attica win over Van Wormer, Unzicker, Sullivan, Henry and Urb. James, Matt Miller, Doug Drown and Jason Riggs.

UMP Modifieds – Brain Ruhlman #49
In the 25-lap Summit Racing Equipment UMP Modified feature, Zach Schroeder and John Brooks would lead the field to the green, but Bill Griffith would spin in turn two with Jerry Bowersox, Brad Crose and Terry Hull tangling in turn three. On the restart Schroeder would use the low groove to take the lead over Brad Roberts, Brooks, Bill Keeler and Rick Gokee.

By the fourth circuit, Roberts began racing to Schroeder’s outside for the lead with Gokee moving into third followed by John McClure and ninth-place starter Ruhlman. Griffith would spin again on lap six to bring out the caution. On the restart Schroeder and Roberts would resume their great battle for the lead with Ruhlman moving into third. With eight laps in the books it was now a three car battle for the lead between Schroeder, Roberts and Ruhlman.

Following a lap 10 caution for Bowersox, Ruhlman, who a lap earlier had taken second, would drive around Schroeder for the lead on the restart. But, Schroeder wasn’t about to give up as he fought back on the bottom to regain the lead a lap later. On lap 13, Ruhlman would sling-shot back around Schroeder. Meanwhile Jerry Berwanger, who started 16th, had steadily worked his way through the pack and took third on.

Following the event’s final caution on lap 13 for a Brooks spin, Ruhlman would use the clear track and the middle racing groove to pull away from the tremendous battle for second between Schroeder and Berwanger. As Ruhlman ran comfortably out front, Berwanger would steal second on lap 17 with Schroeder, McClure, Keeler and Hull – who had charged from the rear following his opening lap tangle.

Ruhlman would hit lapped traffic with three laps to go, as Berwanger had a war with Schroeder for second. Ruhlman would pull away for the win with Schroeder regaining second in the last three laps while Berwanger would settle for third. McClure, Hull , Roberts, Gokee, Keeler, Brian Post and Jeff Sayles would round out the top 10.

Fremont Fence 305 Sprints – D.J. Foos #11F
Jason Keckler and Foos would lead the field to the green in the 25-lap 305 sprint main, but it was fourth place starter Junior Felver who blasted into the lead as Foos, Keckler and Zack Kramer gave pursuit. With three laps in, Foos had caught Felver as they raced side-by-side while Keckler, Matt Ferrell, Kramer and Dustin Keegan followed. Foos would rim-ride around Felver on the fourth circuit to take the lead.

The caution would fly on lap five for Keegan as Felver stopped on the high side of turn four, ending his great run as he rejoined the field at the tail. On the ensuing restart, Foos would check out as Keckler battled 10th-place starter Stuart Brubaker for second with Kramer, Ferrell and Paige Polyak in pursuit. Jamie Miller would bring out the caution on lap eight. Foos would storm back into the lead on the restart with Brubaker moving into second. Kramer would bring out a caution on lap 11 with the running order Foos, Brubaker, Keckler, Ferrell, Polyak, Steve Rando and Nate Dussel.

Again Foos would pull away in the lead on the restart as Brubaker cruised in second. Meanwhile, Rando and Dussel would blast their way into third and four by lap 14. The final caution would fly on lap 16 for a Nate Reeser spin. Foos would flirt with disaster several times the remaining nine laps, bobbling up against the thin cushion in turns three and four. Rando would take second from Brubaker on lap 18 and closed slightly on Foos as Dussel grabbed third on lap 22. Foos would take the checkered by three car lengths over Rando with Dussel, Brubaker, Polyak, Dustin Dinan, Jimmy Colvin, Josh Muntz, Dan Hammond (up from 17th and Keckler rounding out the top 10.

Reed Gets 1st Win of the Year at Attica; Chance Scores Career First In Late Models; Ivy Wins 305 sprints

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) Byron Reed got a pep talk from Mark Keegan this week…and it paid off. The Monclova , Ohio driver led all 30 laps Friday, July 8 at Attica Raceway Park to claim his 28th career victory in O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints. For Reed, a six time and defending Attica track champion, it was his first win of the season at “ Ohio ’s Finest Racing” speedplant, and what a present it was for the Smith Family Foods/Sutton Bank Christmas In July event.

Ironically, Reed is second on the track’s all-time win list behind….Mark Keegan who has 56 victories. Keegan, who holds 12 Attica track championships, retired after the 2010 season.

“I talked to him (Mark) today and he gave me a little pep talk. I don’t think I’ll every beat his record…I don’t think I even want to,” said Reed beside his Crown Battery, Reebar Diecasting, ProShocks backed #5.

After coming so close the prior week to winning his first every Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Model feature, Mansfield , Ohio ’s Justin Chance wasn’t going to let another opportunity get away. He took advantage of a restart with two laps to go and slid under race-long leader Rick DeLong and went on to score the victory.

“I was hoping I could get him. I just kept thinking of last week. I was like ‘come on let me get him.’ Wow…12 years I’ve been waiting for this,” said Chance beside his Innovative Graphics/IG Image.com, Raceway 42 RC Track, Sophi’s Custom Embroidery backed #01. “I kept getting a run on him (DeLong) and when I saw that last caution I was hitting the dash. I knew I was going to get him.”

Fremont’s John Ivy continues to prove he can drive – and win – in anything. He has won in 410 sprints, 305 sprints, last week in a dirt truck, go-karts, micro sprints…you strap him in and he goes to the front. He did just that in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints Friday, leading all 25 laps and surviving a restart with two laps to go to get his 10th career victory in the division.

“I went to the bottom on that last restart…I figured if I go down there I can at least slow her (Paige Polyak) down just a little bit. She did it to me on the last one…got under me going into three. I was afraid to go in on the top at the beginning cause without the wing speed it didn’t feel just as good,” said Ivy beside his Adkins Fence/Wendy’s Restaurant/Sonny’s Machine and Welding/Bud’s Tavern backed #94. “We got to start up front tonight and that helps. The boys have been working hard on this thing and we’ve been getting closer and closer and hopefully this will put us over the top and get us going.”

O’Reilly 410 Sprints – Byron Reed #5
Reed and Darren Long would pace the field to the green in the 410 sprint feature which turned into an hour-long marathon even with eight cautions/reds slowing the pace. Reed would jump into the lead with last week’s winner Brandon Martin getting around Long to take second. A Jody Keegan spin on lap four would slow the pace and on the restart Robert Robenalt would also spin. During the caution, Phil Gressman, who had struggled with engine issues throughout the night, but had worked his way from ninth to fourth, would go pit side.

Reed would pull away on the restart while Martin and Long would battle hard for second with Craig Mintz locked in a race for fourth with Andrew Palker, Dean Jacobs, Mike Linder and Bryan Sebetto. After just one more lap was completed rookie Brad Bowman would flip in turn two. A lap and a caution for a Todd Heller and Travis Philo tangle.

Again on the restart Reed would pull away from Long, who again battled with Martin while Mintz moved into fourth, bringing Jacobs into fifth. Mintz steal third from Martin on lap seven with Jacobs moving into fourth a lap later. While Reed and Long pulled away, Mintz and Jacobs ran side-by-side for third with Martin rebounding to make it a three car battle. Danny Smith would spin on lap 11 and on the restart Reed and Long again pulled away while Mintz held third and Martin drove around Jacobs into fourth.

At the half-way mark, Reed held a five car length advantage over Long while Mintz, Jacobs, Martin, Sebetto and Greg Wilson continued to swap positions at every corner. Reed caught the back of the field by lap 18 and Long quickly closed the gap with Martin now in third and Mintz, Jacobs, Sebetto and Wilson battling for fourth. Duane Zablocki would spin on lap 20 with the running order Reed, Long, Martin, Mintz, Jacobs, Sebetto, Wilson and Mike Linder.

On the restart Long would get over the cushion in turns one and two and lose several positions as Martin, Jacobs, Mintz and Sebetto moved into the top five. Andrew Palker would spin on lap 24 and a lap after the restart he and Zablocki would tangle on the front stretch with Palker flipping. After a quick fuel stop, Reed would use the clear track to pull away the final four laps for the win. Martin, Jacobs, Wilson and Mintz would round out the top five.

“It’s never fun leading when you have that many restarts…you never know what to do. But I felt pretty comfortable. It was one of those nights I can’t say it was a good job, I just did my job. It was a tough track to pass on. When I got by those lapped cars sometimes I feel like I’m driving their car instead of my car…I have to quit doing that,” said Reed in the Engine Pro Victory Lane.

Fultz UMP Late Models – Justin Chance #01
In the 25-lap late model feature, Matt Irey and Rick DeLong would lead the field to the green with DeLong assuming the lead as Irey spun into the infield as they came to complete the first lap. Irey was able to continue but at the back of the pack. DeLong would not move off the bottom as Kyle Perry was locked in a tremendous battle for second with Chance, Devin Shiels, Ken Hahn, Larry Kingseed and Ryan Missler.. Chance would take second on lap 2 and immediately moved right in on DeLong’s rear bumper.

The first caution would fly on lap five for a three-car pile-up involving Irey, Brandon Perkins and Nate Potts. DeLong and Chance would pull away on the restart with Perry continuing to battle Shiels, Hahn, Kingseed and 15th place starter Casey Noonan. Shiels would spin on lap 11 just after he had taken third from Perry. On the restart the DeLong and Chance duo would continue to run bumper to bumper while Hahn slid around Perry into third. With 10 laps to go it was still DeLong, Chance, Hahn and now Noonan. Noonan would take third from Hahn on lap 19 but could not close on the top two.

With the laps ticking down, it looked like DeLong was struggling to keep his car on the bottom – especially in turns three and four and Chance was just waiting for his….chance. Just as they crossed the start-finish line to complete the 23rd lap, Perkins would spin again to set up a green, white checkered finish.

On the restart Chance would dive under DeLong and take the lead as they raced to the white flag. Behind them it was a real war for third between Noonan, Kingseed, Hahn, Perry and Mike Bores. Chance would pull away for the win with DeLong, Noonan, Kingseed and Hahn rounding out the top five.

“I have to thank everyone that helps me out…Timmy, my Uncle Mike, Dave, Jamie…my dad’s not here, he’s in Kentucky…he’s going to hate that he went to Kentucky. I have to thank my wife and tomorrow’s my one-year-old’s birthday so that’s even better,” said Chance in the Engine Pro Victory Lane .

Fremont Fence 305 Sprints – John Ivy #94
Ivy and Paige Polyak would bring the 305 sprints to the green of their 25-lap feature with Ivy rim-riding into the lead with Jack Kramer, Junior Felver, D.J. Foos, Jimmy Colvin and Nate Dussel in tow. Kramer would drive off the high side of turn two a lap latter losing several spots. Ivy would continue to lead with Polyak staying within striking distance while Felver, Foos, Colvin, Dussel, Kramer, Caleb Griffith and Stuart Brubaker continued a great battle for third.

Ivy would encounter lapped traffic by the 11th lap with Polyak staying glued to his rear bumper with Felver, Foos, Dussel and Kramer closing. Kramer would again drive off the high side of turns one and two on lap 12 and would coast to a stop to bring out the first caution. Ivy and Polyak would pull away on the restart with Dussel sliding into third, bringing Foos and Brubaker into fourth and fifth as Felver began to fade. Polyak stuck the nose of her car under Ivy on several occasions but could not execute the pass while Dussel, Foos, Brubaker and Weaver battled for third.

Dustin Dinan would slide off the track in turn four on lap 23 to bring out the caution and set up a green, white, checkered finish. On the restart Ivy left his high groove and ducked to the bottom as Polyak switched to the top, but again couldn’t get the pass as Ivy would drive to the checkered over Polyak, Brubaker, Dussel and Weaver.

Attica Raceway Park will host the UMP Late Model Summer Nationals – known s the Hell Tour – on Friday, July 15 on Central Ohio Farmers/ True Value of Woodville Night. The Summer nationals kicked off June 15 and included 28 races over 32 days in nine states. So far all but four days – rain outs postponed to the days prior to Attica’s race – have been completed with Shannon Babb’s three wins earning the Hell Tour’s point lead over Scott James (two wins) and defending Summer Nationals’ champion Jason Feger (who won at Attica in 2010).

The UMP Modifieds and 305 sprints will also be in competition.

Both Martin & Griffith Get 1st Career Attica Wins; Henry Takes 6th Late Model Victory; Dible Earns 3rd Truck Win

By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) For two sprint car drivers, Friday, July 1, 2011 is a date they will always remember as Brandon Martin and Caleb Griffith finally scored feature wins at Attica Raceway Park – Martin in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints and Griffith in the Fremont Fence & Guardrail 305 Sprints.

Martin, who grew up literally in the shadow of Attica Raceway Park , has competed at the neighboring track his entire racing career but could not get a win. Caleb Griffith won Attica ’s 305 sprint track championship in 2003, but had not found victory lane either during his career.

“This has been forever coming…it’s been a brutal 11 years. I’m so thankful to be here and for all the fans who came out tonight. I’m glad to be in this 9x car (owned by Stan Cortad) because without this car I wouldn’t be racing,” said Martin beside his Burns Electric, Oak Ridge Festival backed machine. “Hats off to my crew…they got me here tonight. I wish my wife was here tonight but she’s home taking care of our daughter…I can’t wait to call her.”

“Finally…for awhile I didn’t know if this was every going to happen. I’ve given away some 410 races here a long time ago. The second year I raced a 305 race here I gave one away to Andy Shammo…I didn’t know if I’d ever get back here,” said Griffith beside his Al Davis Carpet, Ballville EZ Shop, Fremont Fence, Crown Battery, B&L Heating and Air, Erlin Trader backed #40.

The large crowd on Kear’s Speed Shop/ Croghan Colonial Bank Fan Appreciation Night also got to see a couple of repeat winners.

In the Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models, Ada, Ohio’s Jon Henry pressured Justin Chance until he slipped up a tad off the bottom on lap 11 as Henry took the lead and went on to score his sixth victory of the season at Attica. It was Henry’s 7th career win at “ Ohio ’s Finest Racing” speedplant, moving him into second on the all-time win list, three shy of Rusty Schlenk.

“It’s definitely great to be back at Attica …this crowd is awesome tonight. I really want to thank JLH General Contractors and John Horn for joining us this week as a sponsor and for the rest of the season. He jumped on board when he heard we didn’t have a sponsor,” said Henry in the Engine Pro Victory Lane .

Fostoria’s Bob Dible battled with veteran Art Ball through the first half of the 15 lap Computer Man Dirt Truck feature before pull away for his third victory of the season at Attica and his 10th career win.

“They have to call me the catfish…I’m not moving off the bottom. We’re having a great season over here…the truck just works awesome here. Art got rolling pretty good there I just didn’t leave him enough room to get to the bottom and I took it away from him,” said Dible beside his Bob’s Machine Shop, BMS Engines backed #17.

It was a Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship Series points race for the 410 sprints as well. Bryan Sebetto came into the night leading the FAST points, got involved in a crash on the opening lap, and was the recipient of some luck, as the second restart saw a caution, allowing Sebetto to rejoin the field after making repairs. Sebetto would come back to finish eighth to maintain a slip four-point lead over Byron Reed and Dean Jacobs.

FAST 410 Sprints – Brandon Martin #9X
In the 30-lap 410 sprint feature, third starting Martin was able to slip into the lead, but a multi-car pile-up involving Andrew Palker, Brad Haudenschild, Kevin Lee, Sebetto and Bruce White would bring out the red. Another caution on the second try allowed Sebetto time to make repairs and rejoin the rear of the field.

On the third attempt it was outside front row starter Brian Smith – who won the very first FAST feature at Attica two years ago – who would grab the lead over Martin, Dustin Daggett, Jacobs, Chris Andrews, Reed and Craig Mintz. Smith would maintain the lead until lap four when a Brad Bowman spin would set up a single-file restart. Martin would then make his move, driving under Smith into the lead, bringing Jacobs up to second.

The caution would fly again on lap five for a Bruce White spin with the running order Martin, Jacobs, Smith, Daggett, Reed, Phil Gressman, Mintz and Mike Linder. Martin would blast to the high side on the restart and pulled away from Jacobs while the battle for third was exciting between Smith, Daggett, Mintz, Reed, Gressman and Linder.

Martin would hit lapped traffic on the 14th circuit but Jacobs could not close as Mintz had worked his way to third with Daggett, Smith, Linder, Reed and Gressman in tow. While the top three pulled away slightly, a tremendous race was underway for fourth between Daggett, Linder, Reed, Smith and Gressman.

The final caution would fly on lap 19 for Todd Heller with the running order Martin, Jacobs, Mintz, Linder and Smith. Martin would again go right to the cushion on the restart and pull away with Jacobs comfortably in second and Mintz, Linder, Smith, Reed and Daggett giving chase. With five laps to go. Jacobs was starting to reel Martin in while Mintz, Linder and Reed now occupied the rest of the top five.

Martin was able to hold his line the remaining five laps with Jacobs, Mintz, Linder and Reed rounding out the top five.

“I was getting a little tight coming off the cushion…I was just trying to keep the car underneath me and not bounce the front end around. We just had a good car..we had problems in the heat race, the brakes fell off of it. We were able to come out alright. They put this new car together and we started third last weekend at Fremont and run 18th…a bad night. We started third tonight and I wasn’t going to go backwards…that’s for sure,” said Martin in the Engine Pro Victory lane.

UMP Late Models – Jon Henry #15
In the 25-lap late model feature it was a crash fest early as three multi-car pile-ups in the first four laps slowed the pace. However, it was young Justin Chance who would grab the early lead from his pole-starting spot over Jon Henry, who was originally slated to start ninth, but, because of the crashes ended up starting sixth and grabbed the runner-up spot on the opening lap with Rick DeLong, Wayne Maffett Jr. and Brian Ruhlman giving chase.

Once the final caution flew on lap four, the race went green the remaining 21 laps with Chance being pressured by Henry as Maffett, DeLong, Casey Noonan, Ruhlman and Dusty Moore waged a terrific battle for third. On lap 11, Henry’s pressure paid off as Chance slipped up every so slightly off the bottom and Henry bolted into the lead.

Henry would encounter lapped traffic with 10 laps remaining, but he was able to pick them off and would pull away for the win. Chance, DeLong, Moore and a hard-charging Larry Kingseed would round out the top five.

“We just have the car working so good around here. I can’t believe I went from 9th to sixth on the start (because of crashes). When I was able to get that pass I knew those guys would hustle to the bottom and they would be tough to get around. I knew if I could get passed Maffett (Wayne) and DeLong (Rick) as quick as I could I would have a great opportunity to race for the lead. I chased the 01 (Chance) around and tried to make a move in the middle there and I don’t know if I maybe spooked him a little bit but he started to drive harder and he got into the corner there a little too hard and took the opportunity,” said Henry beside his www.jonhenryracing.com Share the Experience machine.

Fremont Fence 305 Sprints – Caleb Griffith #12
In the 25-lap 305 sprint main Griffith would take the initial lead over Dustin Dinan, Zack Kramer, Jimmy Colvin, Nate Dussel and Paige Polyak. A caution on lap five would wipe out a big lead for Griffith as Kramer would drive into second on the restart, bringing Dussel to third and Dinan back to fourth. Kramer would slip off the high side of turn two a lap later, allowing Dussel to move into second with Dinan and a charging Stuart Brubaker giving chase.

Kramer would bring out the caution on lap 9 with the running order, Griffith , Dussel, Dinan, Brubaker, Paul Weaver, Colvin and Polyak. On the restart Brubaker would drive into third as Griffith again went right back to the top. Dussel tried a slide job in turns one and two but Griffith was able to drive back under and maintain the lead.

Griffith would catch the back of the field on lap 19, but a multi-car pile-up in turns three and four a lap later would give him a clear track on the restart. Griffith would get a tremendous bite off turn four on the restart and was able to put a little distance between himself and a torrid battle between Dussel and Brubaker for second.

Brubaker would take the runner-up spot on lap 22 and started to close on Griffith . The caution would fly on lap 23 for a Dave Saxer spin and Brubaker would try the slide job on the bottom of one and two on the restart but Griffith maintained his composure and would rocket off the high side to maintain the lead. Jordan Ryan would spin on the white flag lap setting up a green and white restart and a one-lap dash to the finish. Griffith was able to hold off Brubaker for the win with Dussel, Weaver and Polyak rounding out the top five.

“I was terrible in one and two and real good in the three four end. I just had to be patient. I said a little prayer on that last restart…I think the Lord was with me,” said Griffith in the Engine Pro Victory Lane.

Computer Man Dirt Trucks – Bob Dible #17
In the 15-lap dirt truck main, Alex Weichman would grab the early lead over Brian Sorg, Dible, Dan Hennig, Art Ball and Jeff Wank. Following a Steve Endicott spin after one lap was recorded. Dible would drive under Sorg and Weichman on the restart to take the lead with Ball making a bold move to move from fifth to third. Ball would take second a lap later and raced to Dible’s outside to challenge for the lead.

A tangle on lap five involving Hennig, Sorg and Wank would not stop the tremendous side-by-side battle between Dible and Ball for the lead while Weichman and Andy Keegan raced the same way for third. Finally, with five laps remaining Dible was able to put a little distance between himself and Ball and would take the win. Ball, Weichman, Keegan and Hennig would round out the top five.
