Biggest Names In Sprint Car Racing To Appear In 2006

By Brian Liskai: ATTICA, Ohio (Feb. 17, 2006) – Attica Raceway Park will be the place to be for race fans on Friday nights in 2006. The schedule has 24 race nights, including events that will bring in the biggest names in sprint car racing, along with special events for the popular 305 sprints and limited late models.

“Our goal was to get race fans excited about coming to the track on Friday nights….something that will have them looking forward to the weekend,” said new ARP promoter John Bores. “This schedule is aggressive and gives fans a variety of entertaining events.”

ARP Operations Director Rex LeJeune agreed.

“Thanks to the many area businesses stepping up to become marketing partners with us, we were able to put together a schedule that will be one of the most exciting, entertaining and competitive in the Midwest,” LeJeune said.

The 2006 season at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue begins Friday, March 31, with the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and limited lates (raindate of Saturday, April 1). All three divisions are back in action Friday, April 7, followed by the traditional Coors Light Spring Nationals featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday (limited lates also) and Saturday (305 sprints), April 14 and 15.

Underground Utilities sponsors the racing action on Friday, April 21, with all three divisions on the card, with the limited lates running for $1,000 to win.

Bazel Oil night on Friday, April 28, features the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and the American Late Model Series (ALMS). Pepsi Night follows on May 5, honoring the local Scouts, with all three divisions racing.

Kistler Engines presents the World of Outlaws on Friday, May 12, as four-time All Star Champion Chad Kemenah, Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl, Craig Dollansky , Brooke Tatnell, Jac Haudenschild and others battle the tough Attica regulars like Byron Reed, Mike Linder, Brandon Martin and more. The limited lates will also be in competition.

The races on May 19 are sponsored by Strawberry Hill/South Ridge Shell with the regular three divisions in action, along with the first of six appearances of the dirt trucks.

Kistler Engines will present the National Sprint Tour on Friday, May 26, as Steve “The King” Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Paul McMahon, Jason Meyers, Jason Sides, Lucas Wolfe, Tim Shaffer and others come to do battle on the third mile high banked dirt track. The limited lates are also in competition.

Long-time ARP supporter Burns Electric sponsors the racing on Friday, June 2, with the 410 sprints, 305 sprints, limited lates and dirt trucks in action.

Attica Raceway Park will pay tribute to all track champions over the past 18 years on Friday, June 9, as Legendz Sports Bar & Grill sponsors racing action with all three regular divisions on the card, along with the vintage race cars.

Another long-time ARP backer, East of Chicago Pizza, will sponsor the action on Friday, June 16, with the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and limited lates racing. Quality Welding will sponsor the Friday, June 23 racing which features the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and the ALMS late models, with the excitement continuing just two days later, as Attica kicks off the All Star Ohio Sprint Speedweek on Sunday, June 25 (limited lates on the card).

Racing resumes Friday, July 7, as Smith Family Frosted Foods – in association with Hampton Inn of Tiffin, Camden Falls Reception and Conference Center, Carmella’s Italian Ristorante, and Surf’n Turf Specialties – celebrates “Christmas in July,” with all three regular divisions in action, along with the dirt trucks. Fans are encouraged to dress for the occasion.

UUI again sponsors racing on Friday, July 14, with all three divisions in action ($1,000 to win for the limited lates).

The Short Track Shootout weekend kicks off Friday, July 21. at Attica, as the National Sprint Tour comes back to town (limited lates on the card). The NST travels down the road to Fremont the next night.

Budweiser Night – Friday, July 28 – features the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and limited lates, followed on Friday, Aug. 4, with the 305 Engine Builders Challenge (Griff’s Engines, Level Performance, Gressman Powersports, O’Flaherty Engines and Hampshire Racing Engines) for the 410 and 305 sprints, limited lates and the dirt trucks.

There will be no racing on Friday, Aug. 11 for the Attica Independent Fair.

The Second Annual Attica Summer Nationals will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18 and 19. Friday night’s action has the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and ALMS late models on the card, while Saturday’s card has the Kear’s Speedshop Open Wheel Onslaught with the 410 sprints, 360 sprints and 305 sprints.

The Baumann Auto Group – supplier of the 2006 ARP Pace Truck – will sponsor Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 26, with the dirt trucks joining the regular divisions of 410 sprints, 305 sprints and limited lates.

Season Championship Night – final race of 2006 at ARP – will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, with the 410 and 305 sprints, limited lates and dirt trucks in action.
