By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) With gas prices near $4 a gallon and the cost of everything going up, Attica Raceway Park is giving area families the opportunity to enjoy a fun, exciting night of racing at an affordable price.
On Friday, July 4, families can come to “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speedplant and enoy the mud-slinging, fire-breathing action of the winged 410 sprints, the exciting side-by-side racing of the 305 sprints, the wheel-hiking fun of the Service Drive Solutions UMP Attica Late Models, and the edge-of-your-seat, door-banging action of the dirt trucks…all for a reduced admission price. Thanks to sponsorship from Quality Welding of Bellevue, adult general admission is just $10! Kids 10 and under get in free, and mom and dad can afford to feed them with $1 hot dogs and 50 cent popcorn.
If the racing action weren’t enough, Attica Raceway Park will hand out free souvenir racing programs the fans can use to get drivers’ autographs. Prior to the racing – which gets underway at 8 p.m. – the pitgates will swing open for all fans to meet the drivers and crews and get pictures, t-shirts and more.
Some lucky youngster will also leave with a new bike and, time permitting, some fan will get a ride in the Baumann Auto Group Pace Truck around the third-mile high banked clay oval and/or help fire off a sprint car with a trip in a push truck!
“The weather hasn’t given our great fans too many opportunities to enjoy the fun at Attica. So, thanks to help from Chuck Tinnel and his Quality Welding business, we’re going to give them at break at the gate. Where else can you go and enjoy four divisions of exciting racing for just $10?” said ARP Operations Director Rex LeJeune.
And the action is sure to be thrilling, as the chase for the track championships heat up in all four divisions.
In the 410 sprints, Lee Jacobs – fresh off his exciting last lap Midseason Champion Night feature win, has pulled into a tie with four-time and defending champion Byron Reed, with Mike Linder just nine points back.
Stuart Brubaker’s last lap pass for the win on June 20 propelled him ahead of three-time feature winner Bobby Clark in the 305 sprint ranks.
In the ARP late models, Ryan Missler’s two feature wins and weekly consistency has him 35 points ahead of 2007 track champion Ken Hahn.
Cory Ward’s four-for-five effort in the dirt truck features has him ahead in the dirt truck standings by 33 points over Brian Arnold and 46 in front of Steve Endicott who has the only other truck win.
Gates will open on July 4 at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. For more information log onto www.atticaracewaypark.com
