By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) It will be a “super” night at Attica Raceway Park, Friday, May 25.
The “super” sprints of the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions return to “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue to conclude the Coors Light Spring Nationals that were rained/snowed out in early April. The feature will pay $3,000 to win.
Also, Friday marks the first appearance of the season at Attica for the “super” late models of the Sunoco American Late Model Series. Presented by Fultz Fabrication and Speedshop, the feature will pay $2,000 to win.
Bucyrus, Ohio’s Brock Mayes scored his first All Star win at Attica on May 4 for the $5,000 top prize. It was a thrilling 40-lap feature, with Greg Wilson crashing after building a commanding lead. Then, as the field sat under red flag conditions, new leader Mayes saw his right rear tire deflating. He held on the last five laps as Byron Reed put pressure on. At the checkered, Mayes edged Reed by a front wing.
Pit gates will open Friday at 4 p.m. with the grandstand gates to swing open at 5 p.m. Racing is slated to begin at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $20 for adults; $18 for senior citizens, $15 for teens 11-15; and, as always, free to children 10 and under. Pit passes are $27.
