By Brian Liskai: (Attica, OH) The top 10 in points in all four divisions at Attica Raceway Park will collect their money and prizes at the track’s annual banquet set for Saturday, Nov. 22. Also, special awards such as rookie of the year will also be handed out.
The banquet will be held at the hall at the track with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and the buffet dinner at 5 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony. Tickets are $25 each and can be obtained by contact Rex LeJeune, director of operations, at 419-680-5606. No tickets will be sold at the door and in order to receive point fund money, teams have to attend the banquet.
Former 305 sprint champion Caleb Griffith claimed his first ever O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprint title this year. Former track champion Chris Andrews was second followed by six time track champion Byron Reed. Defending track champion Craig Mintz finished fourth in the points followed by Duane Zablocki, Brian Lay, Brandon Martin, Jody Keegan, Travis Philo and Stuart Brubaker. Dain Naida earned the rookie of the year honors for the 410 sprints.
In the Summit Racing Equipment UMP DIRTcar Late Models, Jeff Babcock would earn his first ever Attica title with Mike Bores, Matt Irey, five time champion Ryan Missler and John Bores rounding out the top five. Cody Scott would finish sixth in the points followed by Steve Sabo, Ryan Markham, Doug Baird and Devin Shiels rounding out the top 10. Baird will be recognized as the division’s rookie of the year.
In the Foster’s Auto Body 305 Sprints, Jordan Ryan became the youngest ever to win an Attica title, edging out defending track champion Nate Dussel. Steve Rando, and former champions John Ivy and Paul Weaver would round out the top five in the points. Bobby Clark, Jason Keckler, Ricky Peterson, Seth Schneider and Tyler Gunn would round out the top 10. Luke Griffith will be recognized as the division’s rookie of the year.
In the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks, Shawn Valenti will wear his first ever Attica crown with Matt Foos, Kyle Kline, former champion Art Ball and Keith Sorg rounding out the top five. Dustin Keegan, Dana Frey, Brad Keckler, Brandon Leighton and Jeff Warnick will round out the top 10. Leighton also earned the rookie of the year honors for the trucks.
