Attica and Wayne County Late Model Challenge Set To Begin

By Mike Swanger: (Orrville, OH) Everything is set for the much anticipated eight race Attica Raceway Park and NAPA Wayne County Speedway Late Model Challenge Series that starts next Friday, May 2 at Attica Raceway Park and continue the next evening at NAPA Wayne County Speedway.

The Series will pick back up again on Saturday, May 24th at the 3/8 oval of NAPA WCS and then return to ARP on Friday, June 20th. A double Weekend is on tap for Friday, July 11th (Attica) and Saturday, July 12th (WCS). If a driver can win both those nights, he will pick up a bonus of $1000. The last race at NAPA Wayne County Speedway will be on Saturday, August 8th while the final race for the series will be on the 1/3 oval of Attica Raceway Park on Saturday, August 30th.

Each feature winner will get $1500 with second place collecting $750, 3rd $550, 4th $450, 5th $400, 6th, $350, 7th $300, 8th $275, 9th $250, 10th $225 and 11th through 20th is $200, Cars that do not transfer out of the B main will get $70 at ARP and $60 at WCS.

There will be a $10 entry fee for each race. Other nightly awards will be a Fultz Fabrication Gift Card of $50 to the feature winner while second will get a $25 Gift Card and third place will get a $20 Gift Card providing each car has a Fultz Fabrication sticker on their car. The highest finishing car on Hoosier Tires (Hoosier LM 20 or harder) will get a free tire while American Racer (44 or harder) will give a free tire to the highest finisher on their tire. The Hard Charger award is sponsored by VP Fuels and the driver improving the most positions from his starting spot will receive 5 gallons of racing fuel.

The Attica Raceway Park and NAPA Wayne County Late Model Series Champion will Pocket $1500 and a $200 Fultz Fabrication Gift Card. Runner up in the series will get $750, 3rd $550, 4th $450 and 5th place will get $400 as each driver must run all eight races. The top ten in the points will all receive $100 Gift Cards to Summit Racing. Also Innovative Graphics will award a $250 credit for a wrap on their car to the driver who wins the most heat races in the series.

With some of the best Late Model drivers in state of Ohio and drivers that have wins at both tracks, this should be a highly competitive Series with the likes of Missler, Markham, Schlenk, Drown, Henry, Duncan, or Babcock. Will it be one of them or someone else…time will tell.

Winners at Attica Raceway Park so far in 2014 include Ryan Markham, Jeff Babcock and Doug Drown. Markham opened the NAPA Wayne County Speedway season this past Saturday with a win.
